Morris (Dad) and Our Mission

The Morris Mission

Dad loved movement; he was joyful in both movement and stillness. He wanted others to discover the same joy — to enjoy moving, and to enjoy moving together — while maintaining and enhancing fitness and physical ability.


That’s the mission: to share Dad’s love of well-executed movement, rooted in the arts of relaxing body, mind, and spirit, and in developing intentional practices that optimize how well we can feel — wherever we are starting from.


This is a lifelong pursuit: never ending, always improving, always exploring.

How well you stand or move right now is no problem at all. There is no need to wait. Allow yourself to be a beginner always — that is the best student anyone can be.


The Morris Wellness Center prays that we may show you how to stand and move better than now, and now, and now — and that you will happily benefit. Join us. Amen.


Learn from the Founder — Evan Finer, Son of Morris


Born in 1966, Evan Finer has been a lifelong student and practitioner of movement, power, and wellbeing, guided first by his father, Morris, from before he could walk. Though humble, he recognizes that his knowledge and ability are now extremely rare — and on the verge of extinction. As he enters his “elder” years, he has chosen to teach this work openly.


Evan’s path integrates decades of training, research, and teaching across multiple domains of mind-body development: meditative practice, healing, wellness, and movement traditions.

 

In 2000, Evan released Effortless Well-Being — a bestselling book in health, wellness, and alternative medicine, later published in Spanish and Korean editions. His work has been featured in the New York Post, New York Daily News, and on numerous radio programs. He has also led teacher-training workshops on stress reduction and mind-body skills. Most recently, he retired as a tenured professor of psychology specializing in personality, social, and business psychology. The practices in Effortless Well-Being were an invitation for dedicated people to build a powerful engine for life and movement.


Today, through the Morris Wellness Center — named in honor of his father — Evan shares a unique path to effortless power and ageless movement. His focus is on taking people from where they are as far as possible, rather than providing a self-guided, step-by-step program like Effortless Well-Being. His teaching blends precision training, personal correction, and timeless practices into a living system designed for modern life.
